страх., австр. страхование от травм [от травматических повреждений\]* (вид страхования, при котором страховщик обязуется выплатить застрахованному единовременную страховую компенсацию в случае получения застрахованным оговоренного в полисе травматического повреждения или диагностирования у застрахованного оговоренного в полисе заболевания; обычно страховое покрытие распространяется на случаи диагностирования у застрахованного рака, инфаркта миокарда, инсульта, паралича, слепоты, а также необходимости трансплантации внутренних органов, получения серьезных черепно-мозговых травм и др.; часто включается в виде дополнительного страхового покрытия в полисы страхования жизни: в этом случае при наступлении оговоренного в полисе заболевания застрахованному выплачивается определенная часть (в зависимости от заболевания) от общей суммы полиса страхования жизни)
